“Craiglist and eBay, sitting in a tree, k.i.s.s.i.n.g.  First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes CBAY in your… inbox?”  If only CBAY came with alimony.

With over 750 subscribers and the baby of Charlotte resident, Colin Furcht,  CBAY (combination of “Craigslist” and “eBay”) is an email distribution list that is your portal to “whatever people want or need in Charlotte.”  Seriously.  Whatever.  People send Colin requests, he compiles them together into one list, and then emails the list to his subscribers.  Voila!  It could be anything:  boat for sale, events, needs above-ground pool for front lawn, want muzzle for foul-mouthed grandma, etc.  The best part is that he sends you the actual emails, as in, “Hey, Colin – Hope you are well. Anyway you can forward this along for my cousin?… “  Is this not just like a man?!  Classic.

We asked him how it all got started and he answered.  Here is his story, in his own words, just condensed:  “The list started ten years ago, right after I had gotten a divorce and jumped back into the social scene.  Being involved in many groups, I quickly became the ringleader of ‘what’s up in Charlotte.’  Every week I would compile the parties, events, and whatever else, and would email them to my friends.  Then, the list began to grow.  One day, a friend asked if I knew anyone looking to buy a car he was trying to sell. I told him I would be willing to throw it out to the “distro.”  Well, long story short, CBAY was born.”  And, kind of like wM, CBAY is like your morning box of chocolates… you never know what you’re going to get.
