David and the Amazing Fence

“They are seriously my most prized possessions. If my house was on fire I’d grab them right after I got the kids (ok, and then the husband) out.” Pop Quiz. This kind lady is referring to: a) her Erin McDermott earrings, b) her Spanx, c) her collection of Firefly, or (in a former life, we would have picked “c,” but nowadays…)

…you’d have to be talking about the artwork of d) DAVID WILGUS! A freelance illustrator who works from his home studio in Davidson, NC, David uses a sophisticated pencil technique to bring extreme detail and a classic grace to portraits of children and pets. In one portrait alone, David could use over twenty different colors at a time, five of which could be JUST for skin tone. We implore you… click on the image of the boy above to enlarge it. Having begun his career as an advertising designer for a major department store, David’s career has grown in a way that many could only dream of, having done work for the likes of Disney, Nintendo, and Sony. We hear that David’s life and personality are just as colorful as his illustrations, including his amazing, self-designed fence! People like David Wilgus made us happy because they make this world a better place. (Along with some braces for Junior up there.) Thanks David!
