Happy Birthday USA – Top 10
There are hundreds of amazing things going on around Charlotte this weekend, but here is a list of some of the ones you might not have already known about. We’re off to shoot bottle rockets out of the garden hose! Have fun and be safe, for goodness sakes.
JULY 2
1) 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, FREE – Gallery Pantone 278 – The second of six shows this summer, the show will feature the artwork of Kent Youngstrom, local artist, designer, and marketing guru. The event will be catered and will have BEER and WINE. Show will continue on Friday night for the monthly Historic South End Gallery Crawl.
2) Through July 5, 8:00 am, FREE – Greater Monroe Kennel Club Summer Agility Dog Trials – Ever seen Best in Show? Get your taste of Bitch Magazine at the All Breed Agility Dog Trials located at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center (4751 Highway 49 North, Concord, NC)
JULY 3
1) 12:45 pm, 3:30 pm, 8:15 pm, 10:45 pm, $11 unless your an old bird, then it’s only $9 – Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at the IMAX – Forget Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox is hot.
2) 8:15 pm, $5 donation – Summer Pops “Celebrate America” - The Charlotte Symphony will play its last concert of the summer at Southpark Mall. Bring a blanket, some wine, and your best buds and prepare for a relaxing night. Don’t forget to set out your blanket early in the day to get a good spot.
3) Doors open at 7:00 pm, $10 - Miss Pride Charlotte Pageant – Love some drag? Check out the last preliminary to the Miss Pride Charlotte pageant. Categories include Presentation, Creative Fashion, On-Stage Interview and Talent. Actor’s Theater of Charlotte (650 E Stonewall Street).
4) 7:00 pm, $31-$45 – 311 with Ziggy Marley and the Expendables – This show is at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre and guarantees some hazzy, munchie fun.
5) All day, FREE if you wear red, white, and blue – The Men’s Club - Drink $5 Blue Motorcycles (a hot mess of gin, rum, sour, blue Curacao, etc.) while munching on an 8 oz. Filet and grabbing a lap dance from your favorite boobed beauty. It’s like Vegas in Charlotte. You should try it.
JULY 4
1) 12:00 pm, park/food fees apply - The U.S. National Whitewater’s “Red Rocks, Whitewater & Blue Grass 4th of July Festival” - Embarrass yourself on the climbing wall, get wet on the rafting course, and then enjoy a day of live music, food, beer, wine, fireworks and activities for the whole family. After playing all day, sit back and watch the fireworks display.
2) 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Jackalope Jacks – Live music at Jacks and the Philosopher’s Stone. BBQ pit, beer, Red Bull bar, Cornhole, and dunk tank. The best part is that all net proceeds go to www.bagdadpups.com! Good cause, beer, free parking = great option.
3) 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, $25 – Global Grand Wine Tasting – The Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge is hosting a Summer of Food and Wine. Call for reservations (704) 248-4100. Beyonce stayed here when she was in town. That’s something.
