If you haven’t been yet, you should go. Soon. TWENTY-TWO was opened in November 2009 by Lise Barnett and Rodney Raines, the owners of Ace Custom Tattoo and long-time lova’s. With the tag line “Art Booze Music Schmooze,” and named after Lise’s lucky number, TT is Central Avenue’s answer for fine wine and amazing art.
It’s awesome. Basically, TT is one large room with walls COVERED in local art, comfy modern chairs and tables, over 25 wines and 30 beers to choose from, and owners who know you by name. But, let’s focus on the art for a second. As a southern town, Charlotte can often be overwhelmed with the rules of old and the idea that new, different and risky things are bad. We hugely disagree, as does TT. The art you will find here can be bold, fun, daring, and gorgeous. Anything goes, from landscapes to nudes. Yes, nudes… Southern Belle Suzie, don’t be afraid.
At the beginning of each month two new artists are introduced, as well as a featured wine of the month. This is also a grrrreat spot for an event as the layout and aesthetics are perfect. And, for the guys reading this (we won’t tell anyone who you are), take your hot lady here for a date. She will love it. Then afterward, if you go to Ace and get her name tattooed on your chest, she might even marry you. Or leave.
