RIP Bunko
“CHARLOTTE & SURROUNDING – Bunko, too old, finally passed away after a long battle with Ridiculous Southern Women’s Games Syndrome. Even though the massive amounts of delicious boozy bevies will be greatly missed, we are comforted to know that southern women of all ages will stop cooing and start doing. RIP.”
Thank the stars above that someone has shown us the light. CHARLOTTE VOLUNTEER CLUB is the new and improved girls (and boys) day out! Lisa Swayne Proud is a Charlotte native who, in 2007, was living in Atlanta and searching for a way to bring friends together while also giving back to her community. After thinking long and hard, Lisa decided to use the same model used by supper clubs worldwide, but to use it for volunteering instead. Thus, she arranged for a different person each month to set up a volunteer activity with their favorite charity, non-profit, etc. and would then email the details out to their list of friends. As a group, they sorted clothes, built houses, helped at registrations, delivered food trays, walked puppies, and so much more. The next thing Lisa knew, there were over fifty friends on her list and a trend had begun.
Having moved back to Charlotte last November, Lisa has brought her idea home. With over twenty people already on her Charlotte list, her hope is that not only will her group of friends make a truly positive impact on our local community, but that other groups of friends will start their own groups and carry it forward. Girls, listen here… we get your emails all the time asking how you can help, where you can volunteer and who needs extra hands. This is it. This is your chance to put your money where your mouth is and get ‘er done. Holy Bunko, it’s a revolution! Loving you Lisa. Thanks rockstar.
