Viva Vivace
We all love Sex and the City (and if you don’t, for goodness sake, PLEASE don’t say it out loud). We all love the feeling of glam, big city, fashion and, of course, sex (again, if you don’t…). Well, we believe that we’ve found a restaurant right here in Charlotte that could knock the Manolos right off Carrie’s sleds.
VIVACE opened this past Monday in the Metropolitan (think, Trader Joe’s). The fifth restaurant by husband and wife team, Kevin and Stacey Jennings, Vivace is 5,000 square feet of pure amazing. The fare is “contemporary Italian” and their hope is that you’ll eat like the Italians eat… one dish, and one glass, at a time. Slow and sure. All but three of the menu items are priced below $20, the wine list is a mile long, and even your bottle of vino is served out of a carafe in true Italian style.
We must also mention the decor, as this is where Carrie’s Manolos come in. Decorated by award-winning firm, The Johnson Studio, you literally feel like you’re walking into a cozy Italian alleyway. You’ll find distressed wood walls, ginormous (this word IS in the dictionary) red chandeliers, and best of all, an upstairs outdoor seating area full of couches, a dedicated bar, a truly unbelievable panoramic view of Uptown Charlotte and the greenway, and HEATERS! We can’t think of a better way to share a glass of vino and some antipasto with your hubby or buddy. (We asked if the antipasto also comes with spicy Italianos, but unfortunately, it doesn’t.) Buon Appetito!
If you’re at the bar, ask for Patrick and give him a HUGE tip! Located in Metropolitan (down near Trader Joe’s, across from Modern Salon).
