STORY TIME – Friday, doors open at 7:00 – Tommy Tomlinson (fab columnist from the Observer), John Hartness, and Iesha Hoffman will share stories, poems and laughter at STORY SLAM CHARLOTTE. $14 at the door, or $10 in advance.
MODELS + MUSIC - Friday, 9:00 – Charlotte’s own, The E Modeling Agency, will be hosting a LAUNCH PARTY full of models and music, with proceeds going to Amped-4-A-Cure, at Suite in the EpiCenter. Does “models” mean “muscley men?”
VOLUNTEER FOR SHELITA HAMM - Saturday, 6:30 – Once a year GAY BINGO holds an event to raise money for RAIN and, since its start almost ten years ago, it has grown to a sold-out crowd of 1,800 people! The master of ceremonies, “Shelita Hamm,” and her BVD’s (BINGO Verifying Divas) will be dressed to the theme “Shelita Goes to Hollywood” and hope to raise $100,000. (wow) Unfortunately, tickets for this year’s event are sold out, but you can still volunteer. Call Nathan at (704) 839-3956 to sign up. After party at Loft 1523. We’re hoping that the entire “Virginia Hamm” family will be there!
BRIGHT-EYED TY – Sunday, 5:00 – Love you some b-ball and UNC’s ex bright-eyed star, Tyler Hansbrough? Come watch his team, the Indiana Pacers, challenge the BOBCATS while also supporting the United Way. Buy your discounted tickets HERE and $5 from every ticket will go back to the UW. LOCAL TUNES - November 28, 8:00 – If you love local bands, we’ve got a great one for you. Head to Amos’ SouthEnd to hear THREE local bands (S.O. Stereo, Mark Lassiter, and Lloyd Dobler Effect (OK, these guys aren’t local, but they’re amazing)) for just $8. Trust us on this one, it’s worth your pennies.
